B Corp certification is a third-party check on how a company is run. Not a flavour. Not a charity sticker on a can. B Lab measures social and environmental performance, then independently verifies the answers.
Sidekick is in that process. We are not a Certified B Corporation yet. When the listing is public, we will say so on Our Impact. Until then, do not look for the B on the can.
What it is
A Certified B Corporation has met B Lab’s standards and been verified. The public directory is the proof — not a press release.
The assessment looks at how you treat workers, community, environment, customers, and how you govern the company. In Aotearoa New Zealand that also means a legal change: the company constitution has to require directors to consider people and planet, not only shareholders. That is the part you cannot fake with copy.
What it is not
It is not a carbon-neutral badge you buy. It is not organic, Fairtrade, or a nutrition claim. It does not make a soda “healthy.”
It is not a promise that every ingredient is New Zealand-grown. Sidekick is from Wānaka. The honey and the apple cider vinegar are New Zealand. Fruit origin sits on the can by flavour.
It is not finished when you fill in a form. Verification is the job. Recertification comes later.
Why people search it
Buyers and trade accounts use it as a filter: is this company actually measured, or just well-written? For a small soda from Wānaka, the useful answer is the process — how it works — and why we are doing it.
The partnerships we already run are on Our Impact: Breast Cancer Cure, Paw Justice, Grow Wānaka. Those exist whether or not a certificate has landed.
