How we bottle honey soda

2 min read Fiona
Sidekick Soda on the Brewster Hut track, Southern Alps

This URL used to be a hive-to-jar encyclopedia: mesh sizes, settling tanks, and a lecture on raw honey. That is not how Sidekick ships.

We make a honey-sweetened soda. The honey is an ingredient. The drink goes into a 250ml can. Glass bottles are paused. We do not sell jars of honey, plastic bottles, or cartons.

What actually happens

Fruit, New Zealand honey, a splash of apple cider vinegar, sparkling water. Mixed, carbonated, canned. The can is the bottle.

Honey is filtered before it goes into the recipe so it pours clean. That is not a glass bottling line, and it is not a supermarket honey jar. We do not heat a “health honey.” We do not sell Mānuka. We do not rank enzymes.

The source of truth on the drink is the can you are holding: how to read the Sidekick can. What the sweetener is: what is a honey-sweetened soda.

Cans, not glass

Sidekick ships 250ml cans. That is Fridge Fill, the café door, and the home fridge. If you want it in a glass, pour the can at the table.

Format in plain language: cans vs glass vs plastic. Home version: cans for the home fridge.

What we do not claim

No medical claims. No “unfiltered honey” ranking. Honey in Sidekick is food in a soda — New Zealand honey, not a wellness product.

Nana’s drink was fruit, honey, and vinegar in a kitchen. The can is how we make it now: how we turned Nana’s shrub into soda.
