Drinks at Queenstown Airport

2 min read Rogan Tomlinson
Cherry Sidekick Soda with the Southern Alps behind

Drinks at Queenstown Airport, for us, means one named fridge: Airspresso in domestic departures. Sidekick is a New Zealand honey soda from Wānaka. Queenstown is the trip. Kiwis on a domestic, Aussies and everyone else who flew in for the lakes — this lounge is how a lot of people meet the can. Then they want it at home.

This is not the full eat and drink list. Queenstown Airport publishes that. We only name the place we know stocks the can.

Airspresso, domestic departures

Airspresso is the café and bar in the domestic departures lounge — Sir Henry Wigley Drive, Frankton. Coffee, cabinet food, a licensed bar, runway and mountains in the window.

Clear security, then look for Sidekick with the drinks. Open seven days, from early until the last domestic departure boards. Official hours sit on the airport Airspresso page: 06:00 until boarding for the last departure.

The can before the flight is the same drink as town. Cherry, Mango, Pear, Strawberry. No cane sugar. No stevia. No erythritol. Ask staff if you cannot see a can. Fridges move.

Airspresso also runs a grab-and-go Fuel to Fly counter in international departures. We name Sidekick at the domestic café. We do not claim the express counter.

What this page is not

It is not a review of sushi, gelato, or the lounges. Those businesses are on the airport’s own eat-and-drink page. We will not list them as Sidekick stockists.

Hometown is Wānaka. Queenstown is the trip — the airport, the lake, the walk. The can in this lounge is the one people look for when they get home.

After you land, or before you fly

Town stockists — Onsen, Remarkables Market on Saturdays, The Bathhouse — sit on Where to drink Sidekick in Queenstown. A weekend shape is A weekend in Queenstown. Non-alcoholic in town, without a fake bar crawl: Non-alcoholic drinks in Queenstown.

If you are driving to Wānaka over the Crown Range, hometown fridges are on Where to drink Sidekick in Wānaka. Ice and snow add time. Check the road.

Milford is a long day from here. Buy the can before you leave. Honey soda for a South Island trip is that packing map.
